GAY-ODIN: Chocolate for the Mediterranean Award

The old Neapolitan chocolate factory GAY-ODIN - present in Italy since 1894 - has offered to the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the guests attending the ceremony for the Mediterranean Awards 2011 a basket of chocolates to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Unity.

The Totem for Peace was inaugurated at the Maison de la Paix

The Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, with representatives from other Countries and from the world of politics, culture and diplomacy (among them the journalist Paolo Mieli, the Councillor of the Prime Minister of Morocco Driss Guerraoui, the Ambassador of the Palestinian Authority to the European Union Leila Shahid and the President of the Province of Turin Antonio Saitta) inaugurated the Totem for Peace by sculptor Mario Molinari at the Maison de la Paix.

For the occasion the Cantori di Posillipo performed the Hymn of the Mediterranean creating a touching moment for peace and dialogue.

The Totem for Peace was inaugurated at the Diocesan Museum in Naples

The Fondazione Mediterraneo - with the Archdiocese of Naples - realized the monumental work by sculptor Mario Molinari on the occasion of the 150th Anniversary of the Italian Unity.

After Turin, the monumental work has been inaugurated in Naples, on friday the 20th of May 2011 in front of the Diocesan Museum, in Largo Donnaregina: on this occasion there was the "passing of the baton" from the Kingdom of Morocco - where the last "totem for Peace" was realized - and the city of Turin, to the Archdiocese of Naples and from the latter to the other cities which will realize the work.

Took part: Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, the President of the Province of Turin Antonio Saitta, the Presidente of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, Jacopo Molinari, members of Fondazione Mediterraneo and other seats, the Mayor of Rutino Michele Voria, the Mayor of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio Giuseppe Capasso, the Councillor of the Prime Minister of Morocco Driss Guerraoui, the Ambassador of Palestinian Authority to the European Union Leila Shahid, the President of the Administrative Court of Regione Campania Antonio Guida, the Attorney General of the Republic Vincenzo Galgano and representatives of international Institutions partners of the “Totem for Peace” .

For the occasion the Cantori di Posillipo, accompanied by soloists, performed the Hymns of Mameli and that of the Mediterranean.

Awarding Ceremony of the Mediterranean Awards 2011

On Friday the 20th of May, at the Sala Filangieri of the Administrative Court of Campania (piazza Municipio 67), took place the awarding ceremony of the “Mediterranean Awards 2011”. The “Mediterranean Award for Peace” has been assigned to the Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe. Many of the laureates attended the ceremony: Leila Shahid, Palestinian Ambassador to Brussels; Driss Guerraoui, Councillor of the Prime Minister of Morocco; Habib Ben Yahia, Secretary of the Arab Maghreb Union; the journalists Paolo Mieli and Massimo Milone.

For the occasion, the Fondazione Mediterraneo promoted the “Euromediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures" with the participation of “Cantori di Posillipo”.

12th Edition Euro-Mediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures

Back in Naples, on the occasion of the “Mediterranean Awards” 2011, the 11th Edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures with “I Cantori di Posillipo”.

The Fondazione Mediterraneo promoted, on the occasion of the Ceremony for the Mediterranean Awards 2011, the “Euro-Mediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures”. This year the concert, after the success of the previous editions which saw the participation of more than 500.000 people in different cities of the world: Otranto, Cairo, Naples, Rome, Cosenza, Luxembourg, Barcelona, Algeri and Gaeta, came back to Naples at the Sala Filangieri - TAR Campania (Piazza Municipio 69), on friday 20th May at 19:00.

An event that in previous editions brought together artists from different Mediterranean Countries, giving the public the experience of different emotions, thanks to the strength and intensity of the values ​​of peace mixed together with music.
Naples is the symbolic place "where different identities and cultures of the Mediterranean can meet" and identify themselves in the
Totem for Peace, the artwork by sculptor Mario Molinari, recognized worldwide as the symbol of peace it also represents the Mediterranean Award.
