LIBRARY OF PEACE
The "Library of Peace" is one of the priority actions of the Fondazione Mediterraneo defined in the Statute since its establishment.
The goal is to promote dialogue and mutual respect in the Euro-Mediterranean region and in the world by promoting the reading of texts in various languages and, in particular, in the Arabic language.
The Fondazione Mediterraneo signed in 2003 a permanent agreement with the “Bibliotecha Alexandrina” and the “Library of Algiers” and collaboration protocols with various international institutions, such as the “Al-Babtain Foundation” for the promotion and dissemination of Arabic poetry.
The headquarters of the "Library of Peace" - named after St. John Paul II - is located on the ground, mezzanine, fourth and fifth floors of the former “Grand Hotel de Londres”, where the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the Museum of Oeace - MAMT is located.
Equipped with about 20,000 volumes in various languages, the "Library of Peace" (BIPA) dedicates a section to children with books for children: from the myth of Giufà and the Thousand and One Nights to fairy tales that find unanimous consent and diffusion in various countries.
The "Library of Peace" is open for free to all on the following days:
- Monday: from 10 to 13am and from 16 to 18pm.
- Wednesday: from 10 to 13am and from 16 to 18pm.
- Friday: from 10 to 13am and from 16 to 18pm.

A delegation of "Artists in Network" led by Tiziana Capasso with members from all over Italy visited the Museum of Peace and the headquarters of the United States of the World.
Welcomed by Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, they expressed their appreciation for the site and the noble objectives of the international institution, which brings together 181 countries and 16,000 civil society organisations. At the end of the meeting, the ‘Artisti in rete’ group visited the Peace Library – a unique treasure trove in the heart of the city of Naples – and these were the sentiments shared by all.
On this occasion, the membership of "Artists in Network" to the United States of the World network was proposed.

Students and teachers from the Caselli Institute in Capodimonte visited the Museum of Peace - MAMT and the section dedicated to Raffaele Capasso.
On this occasion, welcomed by SG Michele Capasso, a few copies of the book "Raffaele, il Sindaco" (Edition San Paolo) were donated and the figure of Raffaele Capasso, mayor of the reconstruction of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, was remembered on the occasion of the centenary of his birth.
At the end of the meeting, the Institute’s pupils and teachers visited the Peace Library, expressing their great appreciation.

The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Holy See, Rajae Naji El Mekkaoui, presented Secretary General Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari with a number of his publications of great importance, especially with regard to family law in Morocco.
These publications have been added to the Peace Library, expanding the collection for all visitors.

The Guarantor for Children and Adolescents of the Campania Region, Dr. Giovanni Galano, visited the headquarters of the United States of the World and the Library of Peace.
Accompanied by Dr. Giuseppe D'Antonio, he was welcomed by the Secretary-General Michele Capasso and other international members of the institution.
On this occasion, it was agreed to verify the possibility of collaboration on childhood and adolescence issues.

The Salesian "Viva Maria" Oratory - led by don Roberto Berruti - visited the Library of Peace at the United States of the World headquarters and the Museum of Peace.
Welcomed by Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari - after a beautiful moment of prayer in the Don Bosco Chapel - the guests spent a long time exploring the various sections of the museum, expressing their amazement, appreciation and gratitude, particularly for the Library of Peace, a place unique in the world.
