Within the framework of the Anna Lindh Foundation Forum (#ALForum2025) held in Tirana, Albania, UNAOC (United Nations Alliance of Civilisations) organised a high-level discussion centred on the theme "Bridging Cultures and Religions in the Euro-Mediterranean Region: Reflections on Two Decades of Dialogue for Humanity".
The focal point of the event was the speech by Prof. Michele Capasso, President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and Secretary General of the United States of the World. On this occasion, he launched "THE APPEAL FOR PEACE AGAINST WAR", which has already been signed by more than one million people and whose first signatories include Miguel Angel Moratinos, High Representative of the UNAOC and Secretary General of the United Nations, and Michele Capasso.

Led by H.E. Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos, Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the UNAOC and UN Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, and moderated by Ms. Nihal Saad, Director of the UNAOC, the session brought together high-level speakers, including: H.E. Mr. George Andreas Papandreou, former Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic; H.E. Mr. Mladen Ivanic, former President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina; H.E. Mr. Egemen Bağış, former Minister of European Union Affairs of the Republic of Turkiye and Prof. Michele Capasso, President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and Secretary-General of the United States of the World. On this occasion, the latter launched ‘THE APPEAL FOR PEACE AGAINST WAR’, which has already been signed by more than one million people and whose first signatories include Miguel Angel Moratinos and Michele Capasso.

A delegation from the “United States of the World” and the “Fondazione Mediterraneo” attended the event. Coinciding with the Jubilee Year proclaimed by Pope Francis, the Chamber and Senate hosted the Second Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue entitled “Strengthening trust and embracing hope for our common future”. The event was organised and promoted by the Italian Parliament in collaboration with the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
On Thursday 19, at 14. 30 in the Chamber of Montecitorio, the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Lorenzo Fontana, the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, Tulia Ackson, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelisation, opened the proceedings, Senator Pier Ferdinando Casini, Honorary President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Italian group of the IPU, Miguel Angel Moratinos, High Representative for the Alliance of Civilisations and Ambassador of the United States of the World.
This was followed by a debate on combating hatred based on religion or belief. Among the co-moderators was MP Maurizio Lupi, vice-president of the Italian IPU group and, among the speakers, Cardinal George Jacob Koovakad, Prefect for the Dicastery for Interreligious Dialogue.
The Rome Conference continued in the Chamber of Montecitorio the following day, Friday 20 June, from 9 a.m. with the dialogue of parliamentarians with religious representatives. The proceedings in the Chamber were broadcast live on the Chamber's webtv and satellite channel.
In parallel, thematic sessions were held in the groups' chamber.
The meeting followed the first Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, entitled “Working together for our common future”, which took place in Marrakech in June 2023 and was organised by the Interparliamentary Union and the Parliament of the Kingdom of Morocco in cooperation with other partners.
Around 600 representatives, parliamentary delegates from 60 countries and representatives of more than ten religions took part.
On the morning of Saturday 21 June, there was a private audience with the Pope at the Vatican.

The Secretary-General of the United States of the World and President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso met Princess Rym Ali, President of the Anna Lindh Foundation.
On this occasion, she recalled her friendship with her father Lakhdar Brahimi - former Foreign Minister of Algeria and later a high official of the United Nations - and underlined his commitment as founder of the Anna Lindh Foundation and leader of the Italian network for 15 years.
The Princess expressed her appreciation for the role of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the United States of the World.

Secretary-General Michele Capasso had a cordial meeting with George Andreas Papandreou, former Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic and Coordinator of the Council of Europe for Human Rights.
On this occasion, he made a gift of a copy of the book “Raffaele, the Mayor”, recalling the bonds of friendship between his father Raffaele and George's father, also Prime Minister and a leading exponent of Hellenic socialism.

President Michele Capasso and Dr Pia Molinari attended the ceremony to switch on the lights in Plebiscito square.
After greetings to the authorities, the main speeches. Mayor Gaetano Manfredi and Undersecretary Wanda Ferro: “Important step for the city”. The prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, inaugurating the square's new lighting, said: 'This is an important step for the redevelopment of this square, which is a symbol in the world. It was another bet in a choral challenge that saw the City of Naples, the Ministry of the Interior, the Fund for Religious Buildings, the Prefecture of Naples, the State Property Office, and the Superintendent of Public Works working together".

In an atmosphere of fraternity and emotion, Pope Leone XIV once again visited the Augustinian community in Rome to celebrate the birthday of Prior General Fr. Alejandro Moral. A visit with a strong personal and spiritual value, a sign of the deep friendship that has bound the two religious since the years of their formation.
The Pope's visit to the Augustinians' house, located next to the famous colonnade of St. Peter's, is not the first since the beginning of his pontificate. This time, however, the occasion was particularly significant: the 70th birthday of the Prior General, Fr. Alejandro Moral, with whom Leo XIV shares a long-standing friendship.
"I am very happy to share these moments with you," said the Holy Father as he warmly greeted the Augustinians living in Rome.
