GIRO D'ITALIA: A STAGE IN BEAUTY

The eighth stage of the Giro d'Italia is Naples: a journey into beauty.
Suggestive images from the Fondazione Mediterraneo headquarters in Mergellina. The route of the stage started and finished on Via Caracciolo, crossing the hill of Posillipo and descending towards Bacoli and Pozzuoli, before reaching Monte di Procida and completing four laps around the mountain itself, amounting to 19 kilometres.

The first edition of the Forum 'Verso Sud' (Towards the South), organised by the Minister for the South and Territorial Cohesion and The European House - Ambrosetti, was held on 13 and 14 May 2022 in Sorrento. The aim of the Forum was to present a vision and development agenda for Southern Italy, focusing on its role as a strategic hub and connection platform for Europe in the Mediterranean and Wider Mediterranean macro-area of reference.
The initiative hosted the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, the President of the Chamber of Deputies Roberto Fico, the Prime Minister Mario Draghi, 9 Ministers of the Italian Government, 2 European Commissioners, 5 representatives of the Enlarged Mediterranean Governments, business leaders and opinion makers from the countries of the area, for a two-day debate and networking.
During the Forum, the 'White Paper' on the relaunch of Southern Italy in the European and Enlarged Mediterranean framework was presented.
The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso, congratulated the Minister for the South, Mara Carfagna, noting, in a message sent to her, "hopeful synergies" and hoping for fruitful cooperation also in view of the PNRR.
Already in 1990, the Fondazione Mediterraneo - in the context of the United States of the World - presented the "Greater Mediterranean" in Brussels, and in 1997 - in the presence of 3000 delegates and various Heads of State and Government, including President Scalfaro and Shimon Peres - the "Verso Sud" programme, the main points of which, after 25 years, are still consistent with those proposed during the two days in Sorrento.

Visitors and a great influx of links and contacts on the multimedia platform of the Museum of Peace - MAMT for the centenary of Antonio Ghirelli's birth.
President Capasso, moved, recalled the friend, politician and journalist who supported - ever since his collaboration with Sandro Pertini - the dream and the first idea of the "United States of the World".
A friend and companion of Raffaele Capasso, Ghirelli was among the supporters of the drafting of the book "Il viaggio del Signor Niente".
TORRE DEL GRECO RESOURCE FOR THE "UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD”

The presentation of the UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD was held at the Circolo Nautico in Torre del Greco: an international organisation founded in 1989 that includes States, Regions, Cities and civil society organisations with the aim of sharing knowledge to combat social injustice, wars, pandemics, resource dissipation and climate change.
The fundamental objective is the affirmation of freedom and equality through the application of fundamental human rights.
On this occasion, the Secretary General prof. arch. MICHELE CAPASSO addressed the topic: "THE UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD AND THE POSSIBLE REFLECTIONS ON THE CITY OF TORRE DEL GRECO".
Dr. Sandro Gambino, delegate member of the United States of the World, presented the "FARO" Cultural Association, one of the main objectives of which is to develop the proposal of Secretary General Capasso that is "a unique opportunity for Torre del Greco and Campania".
The Mayor of Torre del Greco Giovanni Palomaba said he was honoured by the proposal, assuring every intervention and collaboration to implement it.

The Secretary General prof. arch. Michele Capasso presented the City of Torre del Greco with a copy of the 'United States of the World' flag.
On the same occasion, the original draft of the flag approved by the Member States with the signature of the first President Shimon Peres was handed over to Dr. Sandro Gambino, delegate member, in recognition of the dedication, passion and commitment shown by Dr. Gambino since the year 2000 in Marseille for the United States of the World and for the City of Torre del Greco.
THE FOUNDATION CELEBRATES THE DAY OF MEMORY OF THE VICTIMS OF TERRORISM AND MASSACRES AT THE PEACE MUSEUM - MAMT

Once again this year, the Foundation and its networks have organised direct meetings with various institutions at the Museum of Peace - MAMT to remember the victims of terrorism and massacres, opening the web platform to emotional paths dedicated to the Museum in the "Memories" section.
President Michele Capasso recalled the 44th anniversary of Aldo Moro's assassination, a day that since 2007 has coincided with the "Day of Remembrance for Victims of Terrorism and Massacres".
"The tragedy to which the country was awakened on the morning of the discovery of Aldo Moro's lifeless body, inside a red Renault 4 parked in Via Caetani in Rome, will remain indelibly in the history of Italy," said President Capasso, speaking to young students present and connected via web.
Among the commemorations offered on the Museum's multimedia platforms, that of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, who laid a wreath under Aldo Moro's tombstone in Via Caetani.

Once again this year, the Foundation and its networks organised direct meetings with the European Parliament and other institutions at the Museum of Peace - MAMT to celebrate Europe Day on the occasion of the 72nd anniversary of the Schuman Declaration.
On this occasion, President Capasso emphasised the importance of the UNITED STATES OF EUROPE as a fundamental pillar of the UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD, whose action is accelerating and finding consensus at the global level, thanks to the "war-pandemic" binomial that has highlighted the problems of the UN and the European Union itself, linked to a governance unsuited to the changes and difficult moment in world history.

A large number of visitors came to the Museum of Peace - MAMT to celebrate the centenary of Raimondo Vianello's birth. President Michele Capasso, with various schools, recalled the figure of the great actor, protagonist of cinema and variety shows: his association with his wife Sandra Mondaini was particularly important. An example of comedy but also of indissoluble values such as complicity and respect for women.
The most important films and variety shows in which the actor played a leading role will be shown on the Museum's large video walls.
20TH ANNIVERSARY OF POPE GIOVANNI PAOLO II'S MESSAGE FOR THE UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD

With a ceremony followed by Holy Mass celebrated in the chapel dedicated to St. Giovanni Paolo II, the 20th anniversary of the Holy Pope's visit to Ischia was commemorated.
On that occasion he addressed a message of support for the "United States of the World", stating: "Peace is action and the United States of the World that you are building and spreading requires courage and hope, qualities that you do not lack. At the beginning of this millennium, after the fall of the Berlin Wall at the end of the last century, your initiative is precious and necessary because it has at its heart the values of the three "A's": Listening, Welcoming, Love.

THE REGION OF CAMPANIA PRESENTS THE CULTURAL INTERVENTIONS FINANCED BY THE POR 2014-2020: AMONG THEM THE FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO WITH "THE CAMPANIA CAMPANIA OF EMOTIONS"

Presented in the auditorium of the Archaeological Museum of Naples the Directory of interventions financed by the POR Campania FESR 2014-2020 Action 3.3.2. Cultural and creative enterprises (CCIs) are an essential tool for fuelling local development processes. As the European Commission has recognised, they play a crucial role in increasing the attractiveness of territories, since the promotion for commercial purposes and the development of cultural infrastructures and services favour sustainable and inclusive development processes.
It is on the basis of these considerations that the Campania Regional Council has approved the issuing of a specific public notice for the granting of incentives aimed at supporting businesses operating in the areas of 'Culture Production System' and 'New Products and Services for Cultural Tourism', with a total allocation of EUR 15.5 million, to be allocated from the POR Campania FESR 2014-2020. The maximum amount of the contribution granted was, for the first sphere, 80 per cent of the eligible expenses, and for the second, 60 per cent of the expenses; the maximum amount of the contribution granted is EUR 200,000.
The action therefore made it possible both to support existing enterprises operating in the cultural sector, aiming at strengthening them and renewing their entrepreneurial base, and to nurture new enterprises engaged in technological experimentation or with other sectors such as manufacturing and tourism.
Among the co-financed projects is 'THE CAMPANIA OF EMOTIONS' by the Fondazione Mediterraneo per il Museum of Peace - MAMT.
