 CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the “Maison des Alliances” – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

The President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso participated to the international meeting Ethnic and religious minorities in the Mediterranean, which took place in Turin on the 4th and 5th April 2011. The event has been organized by CIPMO - Centro Italiano per la Pace in Medio Oriente.

The Fondazione Mediterraneo hosted the last lessons of the training course for the students from Università degli Studi di Napoli “L’Orientale” and Università degli Studi di Salerno participating to the NMUN 2011, coordinated by the Associazione Ideagorà.

The NMUN is a “student-run academic simulation” that is a simulation of multilateral diplomatic processes for university students. This is an opportunity to understand the internal functioning of the United Nations, developing at the same time skills in the art of the diplomacy and the compromise; moreover the encounter among students from different backgrounds make the NMUN one of the most effective instruments for the teaching of the dynamics of the multilateral diplomacy and the international relations.

Convention: “Doing business in World 2.0. Opportunities in the light of the state of the art”

Promoted by the Assessorate for Development and Innovation of the Comune of Naples, the Convention “Doing business in World 2.0. Opportunities in the light of the state of the art” offered a wide gamut of experience and competence for understanding and not submitting to the dynamics of the ongoing revolution.

In this sense there was a meeting of experts, innovators and entrepreneurs, mostly Neapolitans, who have not only managed to understand the possibilities of the web 2.0 but who have successfully managed to benefit from them, like Massimiliano Canestro, leader of the multi-award winning “SMS Engineering”, Nino Ragosta, founder of the  highly clicked site “fantagazzetta.com” and Stefano Consiglio, the mind behind the “Angeli per viaggiatori”, the most explosive travel community on the web.

The objective of the meeting was to promote change, starting from all the capabilities of “making networks” for sharing and exchanging information and knowledge.  At the conclusion a new initiative was launched: soon to start up in Naples is the “Workshop for the feasibility of a permanent observatory for digital entrepreneurs”, promoted by RAI Nuovi Media, the Fondazione Mediterraneo and Impresa e Innovazione.

Mario Raffa, Assessor for Development and Innovation of the Commune of Naples, referred to the coincidence with the bicentenary of the Neapolitan Engineering School (founded 4th March 1811).

The contributions of Michele Capasso and Amedeo Lepore were especially interesting.

On 2nd March 2011, at the Istituto Italiano per gli Studi Filosofici, there was the book presentation of Sergio Chiamparino’s “La Sfida” and Giuseppe Gargani’s “Fine della Politica. Rinascita della Politica”.

The authors discussed their works with Andrea Orlando, Umberto Ranieri, Clemente Mastella, Mario Valducci. The meeting was chaired by Virman Cusenza, Director of "Il Mattino".

President Michele Capasso intervened on behalf of the Fondazione Mediterraneo.

Appeal for Peace from Naples: live broadcast of Campania regional news, TG3

During a live television broadcast from the offices of the Fondazione Mediterraneo of Naples - from 7 to 8 a.m. in "Buongiorno Regione" (repeated at 2 p.m.  on "TG3" and on Saturday 5th March on "Settimanale TG3") - the result of 20 years of commitment to the Mediterranean and to Peace was presented and an Appeal for Peace in Lybia was proposed by ARCI, Associazione “Libera”, Fondazione Mediterraneo and others.

On this occasion the Totem for Peace project was illustrated and, especially, that the “Tricolore” edition which was made in Turin for the 150th Anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
