THE UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD LAUNCHES THE MAJKE PROGRAMME

The United States of the World, with its 181 member countries and over 16,000 civil society organisations, is implementing the MAJKE (Mothers) programme, which was presented in Rome and Paris in 2023 and in Sarajevo in 2025.
This initiative is one of the main actions of the United States of the World and features the "Mothers" of war victims, children who have died of hunger, victims of organised crime and mafias, femicides and all those who have suffered, are suffering and will suffer violence in a world immersed in a great famine of love and contaminated by a suicidal selfishness that is destroying the fundamental values of life.
The main purpose is to collect the "VOICES" of the "Mothers" to bear witness to the insults to humanity caused daily by tragedies, exterminations, genocides and violence.
The hope is that this "global testimony" of "Mothers" will constitute an act of peace capable of ensuring a future of reconciliation and cooperation, so that these tragedies will never be repeated.
MAJKE is supported by leading international institutions.

President Michele Capasso, accompanied by Pia Molinari, retraced with Ibrahim Spahić the places frequented by his close friends Predrag Matvejević, Izet Sarajlić and Abdulah Sidran.
The first copy of the Bosnian edition of Matvejević's ‘Mediterranean Breviary’ was found in the library of the Bosnian Institute.
Immediately afterwards, in the classic artisan coffee shop.

MEETING WITH JASMINA BEŠLAGIĆ

Secretary General Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari met with Jasmina Bešlagić, board member of the Bosniacki Institut in Sarajevo, which houses one of the largest libraries in the city.
On this occasion, several copies of the book "War Journals. Bosnia" in multiple languages were donated to the library.

Secretary-General Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari met with Ibrahim Spahić, a dear friend and founding member of Fondazione Mediterraneo.
On this occasion, various possibilities for collaboration were examined for the artistic and cultural events planned in Sarajevo for 2026 and curated by Spahić, who accompanied the guests on a visit to various exhibitions and displays. The visit concluded with a stop at an old coffee shop where coffee is produced by hand according to ancient tradition.

MEETING WITH MUNIRA AND THE MOTHERS OF SREBRENICA

Secretary-General Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, accompanied by Amela Zec Filipović, met with President Munira Subašić and other mothers at the Sarajevo headquarters of the Association of Mothers of the Enclaves of Srebrenica and Zepa.
It was a moving meeting during which each mother was given a copy of the book "War Journals. Bosnia", which contains, in its final pages, the names of the 8,372 victims of the Srebrenica genocide of 11 July 1995.
Kada, one of the mothers present, recounted her pain at the loss of six children and her husband, whose names were identified and highlighted in yellow in the pages of the book she had just received. She immediately began to describe who her children and husband were, what they did and how they were murdered. At the end, she said:
"I am sure that God exists, but our people are sick with evil. There is no remedy for my pain. But I am not ashamed. I walk with my head held high".
And so, for a few heart-wrenching hours, a communion of pain and hope was strengthened.
On this occasion, it was decided to launch the ‘MAIKE’ programme, which will bring together the Mothers of Srebrenica with Serbian mothers whose sons committed crimes and then died: a shared pain for a future together, in peace.
