The "Conference of Mediterranean Ministers of Culture" was held in Naples.
In the final document, the proposal for a "Mediterranean Capital of Culture".
On this occasion, Michele Capasso - President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and Secretary General of the "United States of the World" - recalled the 33 years of commitment in favour of culture and Euro-Mediterranean dialogue, the role played by the Fondazione Mediterraneo in the establishment of the "Anna Lindh Foundation" and in the institution of a "Mediterranean Capital of Culture", which was decided by the 2248 participants at the Euromed Civil Forum in Naples (10-12 December 1997) in the presence - among others - of the President of the Italian Republic Scalfaro, other Heads of State and Government of various countries as well as representatives of international bodies.
"We are honoured and willing," concluded President Capasso, "to bring our contribution to this initiative, which is necessary for peace and shared development in the Greater Mediterranean and the world".

Labelled as Youth and women’s inclusion in the labour market: challenges and opportunities for the Mediterranean region, the first country event of the EuroMeSCo Annual Conference 2022 will be held in Rabat on June 9.
The Event will be broadcasted live via the PCNS’ Facebook page and YouTube channel, with live coverage on Twitter.

The European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed) within the framework of the project “EuroMeSCo Connecting the dots” and the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) within the project “EuroMed Migration 5”, carried out this survey to reflect on migration partnerships between the EU and Southern Mediterranean countries in line with the EU’s Joint Communication on a Renewed Partnership with the Southern Neighbourhood and the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. It reflects the priorities and viewpoints of the nine European Neighbourhood Instrument Southern Partner Countries (ENI SPCs) thereby charting a path for an evidence-driven approach to partnership negotiations. The survey targeted respondents from Southern Mediterranean Countries, including policymakers, experts, and civil society representatives. The results of the survey contain analytical articles that also echo some specific results of the Survey, in the case of Lebanon there is a particular analysis written by the ILO Regional Office for the Arab States focused on partnerships in the context of forced displacement and support to host countries.
The aim of this event was to present the EMM5-EuroMeSCo Euromed Survey Results and discuss and analytical article based on the survey results.
The event took place on Tuesday, May 31 2022 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm Beirut time.

The international jury of the "Mare Nostrum Award", the prize established years ago by the Grimaldi Group, met in Naples.
On this occasion, President Michele Capasso - a member of the jury chaired by Bruno Vespa, who was present at the proceedings - stressed the importance of the Award in restoring confidence in a region - the Mediterranean - especially after the pandemic. President Capasso emphasised the importance of having shared quality nominations within the UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD programme with the "Ways of the Sea" as a World Heritage Site at its heart.
