THE UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD

The MEDITERRANEAN FOUNDATION, since its creation in 1990 immediately after the fall of the Berlin Wall, has taken as one of its main objectives the establishment of the "UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD": from an intuition of Gustavo Rol.
The activities carried out over the last three decades by the Foundation - particularly in the area of the "Greater Mediterranean" - bear witness to a constant and concrete action that, precisely in these difficult times of war and pandemic, is an anchor of salvation to strengthen the spirit of peace and cooperation between peoples.
The adhesions of men and women, organisations and institutions from various countries contribute to supporting the institutional initiative by pursuing concrete objectives and effective means for the defence of the planet, respect for the fundamental rights of the human person, the coexistence of philosophies, faiths and religions, the fair distribution of goods and resources, the union of science and politics for the salvation of humanity and against all wars.

The "Appeal for a United States of the World" was presented and shared in various cities around the world starting on 14 April 2021 and signed by over 2 million people. On 22 April 2021, World Earth Day, it was presented to the assembled Heads of State and Government by President Biden.
The text reads: "We need the commitment of Governments and civil society bodies to promote a 'Coalition of Shared Values and Interests', which is indispensable after the pandemic to avoid an environmental catastrophe, to save creation, to share knowledge and to avoid wars and conflicts".

On the occasion of the thirty-year anniversary of the Fondazione Mediterraneo the international meeting on the theme "MEDITERRANEAN OF THE FUTURE - ONE BELT ONE ROAD" was held at the Peace Museum - MAMT, promoted by the Institute for Chinese Culture and the Fondazione Mediterraneo.
This event is part of the "WORLD PEACE FORUM" scheduled in Naples and other countries around the world.
The objective of the international meeting is the establishment of a Permanent Technical Board that brings to the attention of national institutions and Southern Italian Regions the need for the inclusion of economic and scientific actors in the process that goes by the name of "Silk Road".
Considering the risk for the ports of the Tyrrhenian Sea to be excluded from the most important trades that will characterize the years to come, an analysis and a timely planning capable of involving the whole "Italian System" in this important action and in this particular, Southern Italy.
In the presence of Zheng Xuan, Minister Counselor of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Italy, to witness the importance of collaboration between the two countries, the event is an important step and is divided into institutional, scientific and industrial tables.
