Concerts

Since the beginning Fondazione Mediterraneo payed attention to the promotion of cultural dialogue among the Euro-Mediterranean Countries, in particular, to all those artistic forms that become instrument for dialogue: the music is one of them. 
Different identities and different cultures met and join together thanks to the music.

Since 1996 the Fondazione collaborates with the Franciscan Ceter Oltre il Chiostro in the organization of the Epiphany Concert which is aired every year on the 6th of January on Rai Uno and on Rai International.

Since 2004 the Fondazione is promoting all aver the world the Euro-Mediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures, with great success. The Concerts in Cairo, Otranto, Naples, Rome, Cosenza, Cairo (Pyramids), Luxembourg, Barcelona, Algiers, Gaeta and Naples (Teatro di San Carlo) saw the participation of many Euro-Mediterranean artists and performers.

The Mediterranean Award matches with both Concerts.

Back in Naples, on the occasion of the “Mediterranean Awards” 2011, the 11th Edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures with “I Cantori di Posillipo”.

The Fondazione Mediterraneo promoted, on the occasion of the Ceremony for the Mediterranean Awards 2011, the “Euro-Mediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures”. This year the concert, after the success of the previous editions which saw the participation of more than 500.000 people in different cities of the world: Otranto, Cairo, Naples, Rome, Cosenza, Luxembourg, Barcelona, Algeri and Gaeta, came back to Naples at the Sala Filangieri - TAR Campania (Piazza Municipio 69), on friday 20th May at 19:00.

An event that in previous editions brought together artists from different Mediterranean Countries, giving the public the experience of different emotions, thanks to the strength and intensity of the values ​​of peace mixed together with music.
Naples is the symbolic place "where different identities and cultures of the Mediterranean can meet" and identify themselves in the
Totem for Peace, the artwork by sculptor Mario Molinari, recognized worldwide as the symbol of peace it also represents the Mediterranean Award.

On January the 4th 2011, there has been in Naples the 16th Edition of the Epiphany Concert that has sealed the conclusion of the Christmas holidays, spreading again the usual peace and party message, using once again the music as a tool to exceed any barrier of race, culture and religion in the sign of a universal brotherhood. 
The Concert took place in Naples at Teatro Mediterraneo with the exhibition of great artists.

The Epiphany Concert, is an event aired on RAI since 1994, and, promoting interreligious and intercultural dialogue, it represents one of the most important social events in the city of Naples.

On that occasion the Mediterranean Award for Art and Creativity 2011 was assigned to the Associazione Italiana “Amici del Presepio”, bestowed by the President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso.

The Fondazione Mediterraneo supported the “Euro-Mediterranean Concert for Dialogue among Cultures”, on the occasion of the year 2010 proclaimed by United Nations “International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures”.

The event was arranged by the Fondazione Mediterraneo in cooperation with the Theatre of San Carlo, signer of a memorandum of understanding that includes this event every year.

The Concert has grown internationally for the dialogue and peace, for its combination with “Mediterranean Award”, considered today as one of the most world wide renowned acknoledgments and for the unveiling of the “Totem for Peace" by the Turin sculptor Mario Molinari.

The Concert programme envisaged the presence of great artists coming from different Euro-Mediterranean Countries. It aimed at making Naples and the Theatre of San Carlo the “symbol place” in which the identities and cultures of the Mediterranean Sea meet and join thanks to the music.

Every 5 years the Fondazione Mediterraneo organizes the Euro-Mediterranean Concert for the Dialogue among Cultures. In 2005 the concert took place in Cairo, Algiers, Rome, Naples, Barcelona, Marrakesh and other cities.

Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Chamber of Commerce of Latina – within the context of the 2010 edition of the YachtMedFestival – organized on 16th and 17th April 2010, in Gaeta, the 2010 edition of the Euro-Mediterranean Concert for the Dialogue among Cultures, in honour of the first "Totem of Peace" by the sculptor Molinari.

The program of the Concert included great artists coming from Euro-Mediterranean Countries: Eugenio Bennato, art director (Italy); Mohammed Ezzaime El Alaoui (Morocco); M’Barka Ben Taleb (Tunisia), Jamal Ouassini (Morocco), Pietra Montecorvino (Italy), Sakina Al Azami (Morocco), Mohammed Ezzaime El Alaoui (Morocco), Abbes (Algeria), Omar Benlamlih (Morocco), Driss Mouih (Morocco), Vagheli Merkuris (Greece), Tangeri Caffé Orchestra and Orchestra Popolare del Sud.

On January the 4th 2010, there has been in Naples the 15th Edition of the Epiphany Concert that has sealed the conclusion of the Christmas holidays, spreading again the usual peace and party message, using once again the music as a tool to exceed any barrier of race, culture and religion in the sign of a universal brotherhood.

The concert took place in Naples at the RAI Auditorium, with the exhibition of great artists.
The main theme for this yer´s edition is and for this was also presented the original work of the Totem for Peace.

During the concert the President of Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso, announced the Mediterranean Awards 2010.
