Sociologist and Moroccan writer Fatema Mernissi promoted the French edition of the book “Nostro Mare Nostro”, written by Michele Capasso, whom she described as the “Ibn Battouta”: the "new Marco Polo of the Mediterranean”.

Moroccan politicians and intellectuals acknowledge President Capasso as the “foreteller” of international political events.
In this case, mention was made of a speech made by President Capasso in 1999 in which he considered Morocco and Turkey as the “two feet” on which Europe stands, one to the East and one to the West. At the same time, Capasso predicted relations and growing closer of Morocco and Turkey, which in fact took place in 2011 and 2012. Bouchra Boulouiz confirmed this was the case.

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso made a succinct and widely appreciated speech to introduce the works of the Xth Congress of the Chouala Association, which is represented throughout the whole of Morocco. The organisation brings together hundreds of bodies dedicated to infancy issues and Civil Society. The founder of the Democracy Movement through the development of civil Society in Morocco, Mohamed Amadi was also present.
Other speakers included the Mayor of Rabat Fatallah Oualalou, as well as Mohamed Achaari and Driss Guerraoui who is a member of the executive committee of the Fondazione Mediterraneo.

At a ceremony attended by 600 members of the Chouala Association, the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, accompanied by Driss Guerraoui (a member of the executive committee), awarded the “2012 Mediterranean Award for Civil Societyto the Chouala Association represented by its Mohamed Amadi and Abdelmaksoud Rachdi.

President Capasso emphasized the essential role play by the Chouala Association in 1975 and the value of the “Totem for Peace” as a symbol of the World Movement for Democracy.

In the presence of the Mayor of Rabat Qualalou and other regional representatives, President Capasso asserted that “The Totem for Peace” by sculptor Molinari would be created in Rabat with the colours of the Moroccan flag as a symbol of law and democracy.
