Civil Society

Since 1994 Fondazione Mediterraneo acts as an active part in the Euro-Mediterranean Civil Society participating to Euro-Mediterranean Conferences and Euromed Civil Forums.

In particular, Fondazione Mediterraneo organized the Euromed Civil Forums in Barcelona (1995) and in Naples (1997 and 2003) and contributed to the establishment of the NGO Euromed Platform.

 

 

The Ministery of Foreign Affairs and the Campania Region signed an agreement to plan common actions for the promotion of the regional system abroad.

The agreement was signed by the Minister Franco Frattini and the President Stefano Caldoro.

The ratification was signed during the international conference promoted by the Campania Region and IPALMO on the theme: "The Arab Spring and Europe:how to react."

The President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and the Responsibie of the Programme "Totem for Peace" Pia Molinari, took part to the International Conference The Arab Spring and Europe: how to react which took place in Naples on June the 16th and 17th.

In his speech President Capasso underlined the role of Fondazione Mediterraneo during the last 20 years and he illustrated initiatives such as the Euromed and Arab Youth Forums and the actions in favour of Tunisia, Libia and Egypt.

Fondazione Mediterraneo expresses solidarity with King Mohammed VI and the Moroccan people for the attack in Marrakesh.

"A cowardly act, a blow to the heart of Morocco and its king, Mohammed VI" - said President Capasso in a message to the King. "Our branch in Marrakesh - he continued - is one of the most active since 1998, a piece of our heart is with the Moroccan brothers: Today is a day of sadness and mourning for the whole world. We must work so that everyone can live in peace and visit magical places, such as the Jemaa El Fna in Marrakech".

The Euromed Non-Governmental Platform welcomes the revolution of the peoples of the south shore of Mediterraneanfor dignity, freedom, social justice and democracy. The platform calls for a vigorous European foreign policy that isconsistent with the values and the universal human rights enshrined in its Treaties.
