Michele Capasso, President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo visited Positano after 30 years (he is among the authors of the Hotel San Pietro in Positano) and promoted the project of the Totem for Peace, by the sculptor artist Mario Molinari, to be implemented all over the world.
"The tragedy of Former Yugoslavia with its 200,000 innocent victims led me to carry out this plan – Capasso stated – I worked there as an architect, I restored the library in Sarajevo, Mostar bridge and further works. These sufferings affected me deeply and I decided to establish the Fondazione Mediterraneo with intellectuals such as Shirin Ebadi, awarded with a Nobel, Predrag Matvejevic. Now we aim at locating Totems for Peace all over the world. On Monday the 13th of June the Totem was unveiled at the Theatre of San Carlo in Naples by the Cardinal Sepe in the presence of the foremost responsibles of the organizations supporting it. I hope I will have the chance to do the same in Positano too where I also contributed to build San Pietro hotel".
