Totem for Peace

The "Totem for Peace" is a trademark duly filed in accordance with the regulations. Therefore, any initiatives undertaken by third parties using that trademark or the word "Totem for Peace" in any context and for whatever purpose, it integrates to all intents and purposes the case of trademark infringement.

The "Totem of Peace", the work of the Turin sculptor Mario Molinari, is the symbol of the "United States of the World" and represents the Peace: it was chosen in 1997 by 3,000 representatives of 181 countries and since then the "United States of the World" with the "Fondazione Mediterraneo" are spreading this universal symbol by setting up the network of "Cities for Peace".
The sculptor Mario Molinari was an artist of clear fame, sensitive to the themes of peace and dialogue between cultures, as evidenced by his numerous works and his life.
The cultural project of the "Totem of Peace" is carried out in the world by Michele Capasso: dedicated, since 1987, to the construction of dialogue as a tool for the mediation of conflicts, he combines his international experience of social and intercultural planning and planning with the professional one of architect and engineer.
Many countries have created the monumental work symbolising peace and coexistence between different peoples. Among the main ones are:

   

The sail that symbolizes the journey, the sea. This “Mare Nostrum” of ​​Ours which was the cradle of civilization, the scene of clashes and battles between the people who inhabited it but also and above all of the exchange of goods and knowledge. A sea celebrated in myth where Ulysses got lost, continuing to wander in his desperate search for his way back. The sail that turns red, at dawn and dusk, at departure and return in the immutable rhythm of the Universe .

At the entrance of the cathedral dedicated to Saint Michele Arcangelo, Monsignor Giuseppe Rocco Favale, bishop of the Diocesi di Vallo della Lucania, cut the ribbon for the first stone of the "Totem for Peace".
Together with the mayor of Rutino Michele Voria other mayors participated: Franco Serra (Laureana Cilento), Raffaello Gargano (Torchiara), Antonio Radano (Stella Cilento), Emanuele Malatesta (Omignano), Anna Acquaviva (Serramezzana), Franco Alfieri (Agropoli), Giuseppe Castellano (Lustra). 

President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, Mrs. Pia Balducci Molinari, hon. Pasquale Vessa and the President of Comunità Montana Alento Monte Stella Sabato Vecchio attended the event.

The travel of the "Totem for Peace" keeps to spead, through the red sail, its message of peace. On the occasion of the Concert for the Liberation Day, the band Santabarba played on the stage of p.zza Castello in Turin disseminating the message.

The Mediterranean artists (Eugenio Bennato (Italy), Mohammed Ezzaime El Alaoui (Morocco), M’Barka Ben Taleb (Tunisia), Jamal Ouassini (Morocco), Pietra Montecorvino (Italy), Sakina Al Azami (Morocco), Mohammed Ezzaime El Alaoui (Morocco), Abbes (Algeria), Omar Benlamlih (Morocco), Driss Mouih (Morocco), Vagheli Merkuris (Greece),Tangeri Caffé Orchestra and the Orchestra Popolare del Sud) played at the Euromediterranean Concert for the Dialogue among Cultures in Gaeta, wearing the t-shirts of peace, reproducing the “Totem for Peace” and the description of its meaning. The stage was set up with the logos of the “Totem for Peace”.

During the inauguration of the first "Totem for Peace", Fondazione Mediterraneo distributed the "T-shirts of Peace", reproducing the "totem" by the sculptor Molinari and the meaning of the Totem as a universal symbol of peace.

Godmother of the event was the minister Stefania Prestigiacomo, visiting the stand of Fondazione Mediterraneo.

The Minister Prestigiacomo, together with the undersecretary Giorgetti and the archbishop mons. Fabio Bernardo D’Onorio has simbolically delivered the "Totem for Peace" to the delegates of cities and institutions where the Totem will be realized: the ambassador of Bosnia-Erzegovina Branko Kesic; the mayors of Rutino Michele Voria and of Vernole Mario Mangione; the rector of the Sannio University Filippo Bencardino.
