Totem for Peace
The Fondazione Mediterraneo, in cooperation with the United Nations, the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the European Union, the “Anna Lindh” Foundation, the World Organization for Migrations and more international bodies is building in 200 towns of 165 countries of the World the “Totem for Peace” by the sculptor Mario Molinari. The cities implementing this initiative are part of the network “CITIES FOR PEACE IN THE WORLD”.
On the 18th of September in San Sebastiano al Vesuvio, in the heart of the Vesuvio National Park, Pia Molinari and Mayors from the cities included in the Vesuvius National Park, inaugurated the monumental work “Totem for Peace”: an important chance for San Sebastiano al Vesuvio to strengthen its role and its international visibility.
The Fondazione Mediterraneo and its President Michele Capasso wanted to donate the work to the citizens of San Sebastiano al Vesuvio on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of death of the Mayor Raffaele Capasso, maker of the town reconstruction.
