The Sahel (Arabic: الساحل, al-Sahel, "the coast") is a coastal region of Tunisia south of the Gulf of Hammamet. The southern borders are quite uncertain, and if for some they reach the gulf of Gabes, others consider it to be part of the coastal strip as far as Mahdia.
The main cities of the Sahel are Sousse (the most populous), Monastir (first Arab city founded in Ifriqiya) and Mahdia (ancient capital of Tunisia at the time of the Fatimid caliph Ubayd Allah al-Mahdi).
The president Michele Capasso, accompanied by Anis Boufrika, visited these magnificent places welcomed as in a real family by Rabaa and by the daughters Hiba and Mariem.
