The awarding ceremony of the Mediterranean Media Award 2006 assigned to the Arab newspaper Dar Al Hayat, took place in the Aula Magna of the University of Naples Federico II, in the presence of chief editor Mr. Abdo Wazen.
This prize, described by Director Ignacio Ramonet of Le Monde Diplomatique as a "Nobel Prize of the Mediterranean", is awarded to those newspapers that distinguished themselves for promoting dialogue and mutual understanding between the peoples of the Mediterranean.

The award ceremony of the "Mediterranean Prize for Culture 2006" took place in Algiers, in the presence of diplomats, journalists and "customers".
The Fondazione Mediterraneo-Maison de la Méditerranée – represented by its President Michele Capasso and its Vice President Caterina Arcidiacono - met in Tunis with Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa delivering him the Mediterranean Institutions Award 2006.
