The Mediterranean Award for Sciences and Research was assigned to Antonio Iavarone.
The Award Ceremony will take place in Naples at the seat of Fondazione Mediterraneo on the 5th of November. The President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso, the President of MIB (Mediterranean institute biotechnology) Carmine Nardone, the under secretary of the Ministry of Work Pasquale Viespoli and other journalists and scientists are attending the ceremony.
The Mediterranean Award was assigned to Antonio Iavarone because of his fundamental research about the role of some proteins of “Id” group in stem cells and in oncology pathology. This research can increase the possibilities of treatments especially for some typical pathologies of Mediterranean countries.

The Mediterranean Award for Sciences and Research was assigned to Ruggero Santilli.
The Awarding Ceremony of the 3rd Euromed Award took place at the Maison de la Méditerranée, launched by the Fondazione Mediterraneo in partnership with the Anna Lindh Foundation.
The Mediterranean Award for Diplomacy 2008 has been assigned to the Italian Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Massimo D´Alema.
During the 13th edition of the Epiphany Concert, held at the Auditorium Rai of Naples on January the 4th, the Fondazione Mediterraneo assigned the Mediterranean Award for Social Solidarity 2008 to the Soup-Kitchen “Madre Teresa di Calcutta”.
