The “United States of the World”, the Campania Regional ACLI, the Humanity in Focus Association, the Mediterranean Foundation, the Museum of Peace and the “Con il Lavoro” Association have joined forces for an unprecedented event, focusing on historical memory and the “strength of mothers” .
A summit of extraordinary civic, cultural and institutional significance took place at the headquarters of the “United States of the World” and the “Museum of Peace”: the International Conference “Palestine: 78 Years of History of a People Between Exile and Resistance – The Strength of Mothers”.
The meeting saw the official participation of the leadership of the ‘Stati Uniti del Mondo’ and the regional leadership of the ACLI, who were called upon to convey greetings from the organising institutions and to set out the framework for the debate: speakers included the Secretary-General of the ‘Stati Uniti del Mondo’, Michele Capasso, alongside the Director of the Museum of Peace, Pia Molinari, and the delegate of the Council of Ambassadors, Giuseppe D’Antonio; speaking on behalf of the ACLI Campania Regional Presidency were Pasquale Gallifuoco and Umberto Cristadoro, President of the ACLI in Naples.
The proceedings were moderated by the ACLI Regional President for Campania, Maurizio D’Ago.
The Palestinian Ambassador to Italy, Mona Abuamara, attended the international conference and delivered a speech; she was awarded the title of “Ambassador of the United States of the World”.

The official opening of the proceedings was marked by an introduction from Professor Michele Capasso, Secretary-General of the United States of the World, who recalled the organisation’s activities in support of Palestine since 1990 and the historic visits by Yasser Arafat and Abu Mazen to the organisation’s headquarters in Naples. The panel of speakers and those delivering institutional greetings included figures from the political, diplomatic and voluntary sectors, amongst whom were Ciro Buonajuto (Regional Councillor), Enza Amato (Chair of the Naples City Council), Ossama Al Jaber (President of Humanity in Focus), Gianluca Daniele (‘Con il Lavoro’ Association) and Gennaro Danesi (Association of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps of Naples).
The event marked a moment of historic significance for the Italian cultural landscape: for the very first time in our country, Rabbi Elhanan Beck and Rabbi Haim Sofer appeared together at the same table. As authoritative figures and current leaders of Neturei Karta in the United Kingdom, the two rabbis are among the most influential representatives of the international Orthodox Jewish movement.
Their presence sends a universal message of profound ethical and interfaith significance, demonstrating that the pursuit of justice and the recognition of fundamental rights transcend all dogmatic barriers to challenge the conscience of the global community.
To enrich the debate and explore its themes from the perspective of law and legislative commitment, a number of distinguished guests and national experts took the floor:

  • Giuseppe De Cristofaro (Senator of the Italian Republic)
  • Alessandra Sardu (Lecturer in International Law)
  • Maria Elena Delia (Italia Global Sumud Flotilla)

Their scholarly contribution has made it possible to examine the complex situation in the Middle East through the lens of international law and European geopolitical dynamics, providing vital institutional support for the voices of the foreign delegation. The delegation boasted a line-up of leading witnesses and correspondents, both in attendance and reporting live from crisis zones: the Archimandrite of Jerusalem, Julio Abdallah; Global Sumud Flotilla activists Saif Abukeshek and Thiago Avila; and Gaza-based journalist Omar Al Gedi, a tireless voice reporting from the field.
“Freedom for Palestine is justice for humanity”: this was the motto of the event, which was not merely an academic examination but a truly immersive experience and a profound collective narrative. The proceedings were enlivened by the screening of exclusive video contributions, readings of poetic works, and a rigorous analysis of concrete, documented historical facts that have marked the last seventy-eight years of Palestinian history. A programme designed to restore dignity to memory and shed light on a people’s legitimate quest for self-determination, celebrating the extraordinary and resilient ‘strength of mothers’, as vividly demonstrated by the international ‘MADRI’ programme of the United States of the World, which gives voice to and bears witness to the grief of mothers of victims across the globe.
