CASA UNIVERSALE DELLE CULTURE

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture is a place strongly representative, in which will convey the knowledge of the different identities and cultures, structuring permanently initiatives aimed at the spreading of peace, necessary for the shared development.

The Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture (MdP) is a project conceived by Michele Capasso, approved by many Countries and international organizations. It is an architecture that keeps the memory of many Peace activities which created history, often more than the wars, but it is – above all – a space "to build” Peace.

The architectonical complex has an important symbolic worth: it represents the Countries of the World engaged in the Peace process and the Countries victim of the conflicts.

Proposed by the Fondazione Mediterraneo with the Maison des Alliances – together with the main adherent organizations, such as the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly, the League of Arab States, the "Anna Lindh" Euro-Mediterranean Foundation and others, the MdP represents a referent point for all the ones who dedicate their lives to peace.

The symbol of the MdP is the "Totem for Peace", an artwork by the Italian sculptor Mario Molinari which the Fondazione Mediterraneo is promoting all around the world, creating the network of the "Cities for Peace".

The first seat of the MdP was inaugurated on the 14th of June 2010 (Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture) in the historical building of the Grand Hotel de Londres in Naples.

The action of the Maison de la Paix - Casa Universale delle Culture aims at improving the main activities of the "Universal Forum of Cultures" in: Barcelona (2004), Monterrey (2007), Valparaiso (2010) and Naples (2013).

The Maison de la Paix performs most of the initiatives jointly with the Maison de la Méditerranée.

 

On the occasion of the twenty-five of the Mediterranean Foundation, the "Chalet Ciro" - excellence of Naples in the world for the production of ice cream and pastries - offered guests a commemorative cake, ice cream and freshly cooked staples.
Unanimous appreciation of the guests, including the President of the Senate Grasso, Director General dell'ECSSR Jamal Sanad Al-Suwaidi and diplomats, military personnel and representatives from various countries present.
The President Capasso addressed to Antonio De Martino and his son Ciro De Martino public thanksgiving for the gift and for the availability offer.

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso has sent a loving message to King Felipe VI of Spain on the occasion of his coronation.
In the text, in addition to the official congratulations, you invoke a long friendship that has developed since 1995 on the occasion of the first Euromed Civil Forum in Barcelona and then continued with visits to Naples and Madrid.
"The hope - says Capasso - is that the new sovereign can and knows how to combine the demand for democracy with the values ​​of an ancient tradition of the monarchy."

Kuwaiti Ambassador here Sheikh Ali Khalid Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has become acquainted with the leading role played by the Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures for a quarter of a century.
This came during a meeting between the Kuwaiti diplomat with President of the Foundation, Michele Capasso, who received him at the Foundation's headquarters in Naples.
Sheikh Ali was briefed about the Foundation's various activities in the Mediterranean region and the Arabian Gulf.
The two men exchanged views on the current global issues and challenges, especially in the Arab region and the Mediterranean including the concerted efforts of Italy, which is preparing to take over the presidency of the European Union, and Kuwait, which chairs the Arab League and the GCC, in the promotion of dialogue and understanding to resolve the crises.
In this regard, Sheikh Ali and Capasso also noted the distinct and pioneering role played by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in various forums throughout the four historic decades and his wise leadership in the service of peace and international cooperation and development, as well as his perseverance and tireless efforts in enhancing security and regional stability.
The two sides also addressed His Highness the Amir's efforts and sponsorship of initiatives aimed at addressing the human concerns and major global challenges in the face of poverty, hunger, disaster and successive crises.
Capasso for his part said that Kuwait has always been at the center of attention of his Foundation which called since its inception for supporting dialogue between cultures as an essential element to ensure peace and prosperity.

An important contribution to interreligious dialogue and the role of civil society for peace between Israel and Palestine has been carried out since 1991 by the Fondazione Mediterraneo: This action has been publicly recognized by the Presidents Yasser Arafat, Shimon Peres and Mahmoud Abbas during their visits to Mediterranean Foundation: last, that of President Abu Mazen April 28, 2013.
The President Michele Capasso on the sidelines of the summit in Rome participated in prayer meetings and exchanges with Israeli and Palestinian representatives.
