The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, H.B. Mons. Fouad Twal: this symbol of Peace will be soon in the Holy Land.

On Wednesday the 13th October 2010 at 5,15 p.m. in Rome at Palazzo della Farnesina - Ministry of Foreign Affairs - it has been held the inauguration ceremony of the Totem for Peace, by the sculptor Mario Molinari, that Fondazione Mediterraneo is spreading all over the world creating the network "Cities for Peace”.

THE TOTEM FOR PEACE AT THE FARNESINA WAS DEVOTED TO THE ITALIAN SOLDIERS FALLEN IN AFGHANISTAN.

On this occasion, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem H.B. Mons. Fouad Twal announced the future realization of the "Totem for Peace" in the Holy Land, near the Baptism Font site, where a new church is been built and where the flow of the pilgrims and visitors is among the highest in the world.

The ceremony was attended by:
Under-secretary of State Stefania Craxi;
H.B. Mons. Fouad Twal, the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem;
President of Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and other members of the institution;
Mrs. Pia Balducci, responsible for the project “Totem for Peace” and widow of the sculptor Mario Molinari;
The coordinator of the network “Cities for Peace in the World”;
Mayors from the cities that will realize the “Totem for Peace”;
Parliamentaries and representatives from national and international institutions;
Regional coordinators from the Italian Network of the “Anna Lindh” Foundation;
Ambassadors from Euro-Mediterranean Countries;
Bishops and Archbishops from different Countries of the World.

At the end of the Ceremony the "Totem for Peace" was delivered to the Ambassadors of the Countries that will realize the monumental work as an active part of the project of peace.
