Education and Training

Fondazione Mediterraneo carries out high training activities with the aim of promoting Euro-Mediterranean youth integration in the world of job, through training and teaching processes.

Fondazione Mediterraneo collaborates with many associations and Euro-Mediterranean institutions in different kinds of training areas in order to develop a critical culture that reads the historiography of the present and the past in an independent and multicultural prospective able to overcome stereotype, prejudice and pre-establish interests.

President  Michele Capasso was a speaker at the debate with the world of education on the question of “The Mediterranean diet as an expression of the culture of the Mediterranean peoples”.
Before a young audience, Capasso emphasized the importance of culture in building the sense of life and the future.

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari – board member and director of art and creativity sector - visited  the citadel of Erbil to verify the state of restoration works.
“As an architect who specialised in restoration and President of the Fondazione devoutly committed to the protection of UNESCO sites (Marrakesh, Carthage, Matera, etc.), I would like to make available the capacities  of the networks at my disposal to protect and valorize this site, which is one of the oldest in the world and a true jewel of humanity.”
These were the words of President Capasso commented at the conclusion of his visit to the Citadel.

A meeting, discussion and presentation regarding the contents of the seminar which took place at the Fondazione Mediterraneo in February 2010, later producing the volume "Ricerca Interculturale e trasformazioni sociali" (Edizioni Melagrana 2010) was organised by the Central Rome secretariat of CGIL trades union in central, Angela Ronga.
Caterina Arcidiacono, vice president of the Fondazione Mediterraneo oversaw the publication of the volume and coordinated the work for the meeting of 30th November at the Rome branch of CGIL. An address by Stefano D´Alterio (Segretary Generale CGIL Roma Centro) and conclusions by Silvia Ioli (Segretary Generale CGIL Roma e Lazio ) framed the event which also saw the participation of Bruno Mazzara (Professor of Social Psychology, Università Sapienza, Roma), Jean Bilongo (Flai, CGIL Caserta), Serena Dinelli (psycologist and columnist???) and numerous representatives of CIGL as well as members of Incoparde, the Laboratory of the Department of Relational Sciences at the Federico II University of Naples.

Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo – Onlus made available its know-how in projecting and activation of dialogue and cultural interaction in the Mediterranean basin to promote and to empower the resources of young actors in civil society in the southern areas of Italy.

The Master acts as an high training tool finalized to the promotion of spontaneous resources and expertises of the Southern Italy societies in the challenges of the third millennium, concerning quality of life, work, participation, social organisation of families and cities. The purpose is the observation of the present social changes in a dialectical form, gathering, in a kind of think tank, the knowledge coming from different disciplinary approaches that constitute the reference animating the cultural and scientific debate which orientate social and political decisions. The aim is to promote dialogue and development among different cultures, to analyze how the identitary representations interact in the relations among different social and cultural groups, studying the implications of the different social categorisations.

With the European Community’s sponsorship, in association with the Psychology Department of the University of Turin and of the Second University of Naples, the Fondazione Laboratorio Mediterraneo has started the European Master’s course “Models of Complexity and Human Ecology: tools for community development".
It is aimed at training graduates in psychological disciplines from several Euro-Mediterranean Countries, who would be able to work for the development of empowerment, that is promoting individual and group resources at a community level; able to enhance culture and research resources from Southern Italy areas, increasing the competences for the government of the territory through the active participation of the citizens.
In fact, we think that it is essential to contribute all over the Mediterranean area in the current social transformation processes, and the Master’s course is meant to be a qualified response in terms of employment for young graduates to be trained at studying and surveying social and interpersonal relationships in order to define planning and working actions within the community development respecting its complexity, putting in operation skills and traditions of the Southern culture together with participation and social development.
