The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and Fatema Mernissi – Sociologist and Moroccan writer – visited the poor suburbs of Sale and Rabat.
On that occasion new models of life were analysed as well as the new role of social groups that were once considered to be marginalized. However, today, thanks to the virtual “Cyberspace” offered by Internet and new technologies, they have become the centre of attention for new models of development.

The President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo Michele Capasso and Prof. Driss Guerraoui, an executive member of the Fondazione, spoke at the international meeting on  “SOCIAL ECONOMY AND FAIR TRADE: LEVERAGE FOR NEW MODELS OF DEVELOPMENT IN THE MAGHREB”, which was held at the University of “Ibn Tofail” in Kénitra.

At an interview the Minister of Higher Education and Research Lohcen Daoudi was questioned on subjects relating to the social economy, training of executives and the new challenges for the global economy.

This year, the Fez Forum is being organized by the Moroccan Interdisciplinary Center for Strategic and International Studies (CMIESI) and the Fondazione Mediterraneo in collaboration with a number of partners including the League of the Arab States.

This Forum gave young people the opportunity to meet specialists, academics, politicians, diplomats, international civil servants and key figures from civil society from all over the world  and come together with the aim of debating, exchanging views, analyzing and reflecting on essential issues that affect contemporary society.
President Michele Capasso and members of the Executive Scientific Committee, Pia Molinari and Driss Guerraoui (the President of the Moroccan National Youth Forum ), who are both responsible for the “youths” sector, participated on behalf of the Fondazione Mediterraneo.

The Fondazione Mediterraneo – with President Michele Capasso and members Pia Molinari, Driss Guerraoui and Caterina Arcidiacono – participated in a seminar dedicated to young people and the democratic transition in the Mediterranean.

There was unanimous recognition of the commitment of the Fondazione Mediterraneo to young people over the last twenty years.

From 1-4th December, the Moroccan Youth Forum for the Third Millennium together with  the National Association for Studies and Research in Development organized an international meeting on the theme of “Young people and Human Safety”,  in collaboration with  the Agence du Sud, the Groupe OCP, the Wilaya of Dakhla , the Ministry of Youth and Sport, Royal Air Maroc, the World Peace Organisation and the Fondazione Mediterraneo  in Dakhal,
The meeting took place at a time in which Morocco is undergoing historical,  political, social and economic reform in a global context that is marked by profound transformations. More than 220 ardent peace supporters participated. Among them were young people aged between  18 to 35 from Africa, the Arab World, Asia, Europe and North and South America.
The meeting was animated by experts on human safety and key figures from all over the world. The event included cultural and artistic activities as well as solidarity actions for the populations of Dakhla. Agreements were also signed in favor of young people from the Southern Provinces of Morocco.

At the end of the forum, youth representatives from five continents signed a Memorandum constituting a Global Youth Network for Human Safety.

Driss Guerraoui, the National Coordinator  of the Moroccan Youth Forum for the Third Millennium  and members of the Fondazione Mediterraneo presided over the meeting.
