Following the international event on 12 June 2026, the United States of the World and the Fondazione Mediterraneo are continuing their efforts to provide aid and solidarity to the mothers of war victims in Gaza.

A heartfelt appeal in the form of an open letter has been sent to friends and supporters of the UNITED STATES OF THE WORLD and the MUSEUM OF PEACE, asking for their support following the serious damage sustained by the Museum of Peace in Naples as a result of the fire on 21 July 2026 and the earthquake on 31 July 2026.
President Michele Capasso and the members of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and its branch offices express their deepest condolences on the passing, at the age of 96, of Don Antonio Mazzi: one of the Fondazione Mediterraneo’s earliest supporters, and a priest, educator and activist among the best known in Italy for his commitment to young people and the marginalised. He had founded Exodus, the organisation which for over forty years has been supporting young people in their battle against drug addiction.
Around midday, having left the Sanctuary of the Holy Trinity in Vallepietra, Pope Leo XIV arrived at the Monastery of St Benedict in Subiaco, where the St Blaise House of Prayer – founded by Sister Maria Pia Giudici – is located.
The president and members of the Fondazione Mediterraneo express their condolences on the passing of Angela Salomone, who died today aged 89. She was the life partner, muse and confidante of Mimmo Jodice, with whom she shared over sixty years of their personal and artistic journey. A graduate of the Università degli Studi di Roma “L’Orientale” and a lecturer in English literature, she supported the photographer from the very beginning, playing a decisive role in his development. Discreet yet indispensable, she accompanied him in his creative explorations and at major international exhibitions, becoming both his interpreter and his guiding light.
