The leader of Italian Network ALF Michele Capasso and coordinator of Sicily Vito La Fata had a meeting with head office of IOM (International Organization for Migration) Peter Shatzer in order to illustrate the project “Nostro Mare Nostro” proposed in 10° meeting of Leaders in Cracow held between 20-23 october 2011, of agreement of Algeria, Tunis, Morocco, France and Lybia. Doctor Shatzer expressed his consensus to the initiative which involves Lampedusa Municipality and other. |

On Tuesday 26 october 2011 in Naples – in the headquarter of FONDAZIONE MEDITERRANEO – MAISON DES ALLIANCES – took place the Jury’s Meeting for the assignment of Mare Nostrum Award 2011.
The contest, published by Grimaldi Lines, is reserved to professionals journalists, experts and media’s workers which in the period between 1° march to 15 september had published «at least one article about sea routes».
The contest, at the third edition, has a prize money of 50mila euro, 10mila for everyone of five winners.
The award prize «aims to value maritime routes on Mediterranean area, compared to other transportation, in particular the terrestrial ones. Supported by a clear strategy by European Commission, the so called Sea Highways for cargo traffic and passengers, are an extraordinary tool for social and economical cohesions for Shore countries».
Mare Nostrum Awards’ jury is head by Folco Quilici.Along with him, other important exponents from culture and journalism: Brahi Aouam, Tunisian Republic consolus in Naples, Vassiliki Armogeni, greek journalist from Efoplistis magazine, Michele Capasso, president of Fondazione Mediterraneo, Diana De Feo, Rai journalist , Enric Juliana, vicedirector of Spanish newspaper La Vanguard, Ship owners Ro/Ro, Virman Cusenza, director of the Naples newspaper “Il Mattino” .

President Capasso supports the democratization process in Tunisia and publishes a book about the relationship between Islam and Western.

Fondazione Mediterraneo’s President Michele Capasso published a book about Islam, modernity and Western in the aftermath of Tunisian elections.
“In democracy system it doesn’t matter who wins – declared Capasso to Tunisian television– but is necessary to safeguard secularism values and build a new alliance between moderate Islam and Western world”.

Tra le azioni in programma la realizzazione di seminari sulla democrazia e sulla coesistenza tra Islàm moderato e modernità, anche alla luce della possibile vittoria del partito islamico moderato in Tunisia. |

X Meeting of ALF National Networks Leaders

It took place, between 20 to 23 october 2011, the X ALF National Networks Leaders Meeting. From Fondazione Mediterraneo, member of Italian Network, joined the President Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari, board member and person in charge for the area “Youngs” and “Creativity”. In this occasion has been discussed: - Aims and Strategies 2012-2015 Discussion topic has been also the “Arab Spring” and the role which National Networks have to cover. The meeting has been opened by Union For Mediterranean General Secretary Amrani which stressed Alf and his networks importance. |

Euromed Award Jury’s Presidency for Intercultural Dialogue

| Euromed Award Jury met for Intercultural Dialogue to decide the 2012 theme. On proposal of Pia Molinari and Michele Capasso has been decided to chose "Youngs for change, social justice and common development”. Beside, has been chosen the Jury’s Presidence for 2012: Fondazione Mediterraneo, Anna Lindh Foundation, Irland, Finland, Latvia, Germany, Turkey, Algeria and Jordan. |  |
