MASSIMO DAPPORTO AND MAURIZIO DONADONI VISIT THE EUROMEDCAFÉ

Italian actors Massimo Dapporto and Maurizio Donadoni were treated to a preview visit of the EUROMEDCAFE.org in piazza Municipio in Naples, where they were welcomed by President Michele Capasso and Pia Molinari. They expressed their appreciation of the initiative aimed at promoting dialogue and peace thrhough hospitality, hosting events and offering products of the highest quality.

At two meetings held in Nicosia, 9 November 2012and Naples, 12 December 2012, respectively, the members of the jury of the Fondazione Mediterraneo and those of the jury of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for Dialogue among Cultures awarded the Mediterranean Awards for 2013. The announcement was made by the President of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, Michele Capasso during the traditional Epiphany Concert broadcast by the Italian TV Channel RaiUno, organized by the “Oltre il Chiostro” Association and presented by Fabrizio Gatta. | At the XVIIIth edition of the Epiphany Concert held at the Teatro Mediterraneo in Naples on 4January 2013, the Fondazione Mediterraneo awarded the 2013 “Raffaele Capasso” Mediterranean Award for Legality to the Fondazione Antonino Caponnetto. The President of the Fondazione, Salvatore Càlleri, expressed his gratitude for the Award and personal appreciation for the work carried out by the Fondazione Mediterraneo by becoming a member of the project to set up a “Mediterranean Observatory on Mafias and Organized Crime”. |  |
THE TOTEM FOR PEACE IN BRINDISI IS DEDICATED TO MELISSA BASSI

| The “TOTEM FOR PEACE” by the sculptor Mario Molinari will be erected in the City of Brindisi and dedicated to the memory of Melissa Bassi, the young student killed during an attack on the training college, Istituto Professionale per i Servizi Sociali “Morvillo Falcone”, in Brindisi. This agreement was made between President of the Fondazione, Michele Capasso, the “Totem for Peace” Project Manager, Pia Molinari and the Institute Headmistress, Mrs Rosanna Maci. |  |
THE MEDITERRANEAN OBSERVATORY ON MAFIAS AND ORGANIZED CRIME IS FOUNDED

| A “Mediterranean observatory on Mafias and Organized Crime” will be set up as a result of the initiative taken by the Fondazione Mediterraneo and the Fondazione Caponnetto. This project was proposed by the respective Presidents of the two organizations Michele Capasso and Salvatore Càlleri, which will come into being in the next few months. |  |

Alessio has been war correspondent in Syria for some time and this award was made in recognition of the images he has circulated of the civil war in Syria. |  |

| At the XVIIIth edition of the Epiphany Concert held at the Teatro Mediterraneo in Naples on 4 January 2013, the Fondazione Mediterraneo awarded the 2013 “Medal of Honour” Mediterranean Award to the Mayor of Buccino Nicola Parisi for his commitment to the creation of the Totem for Peace by Mario Molinari in the town of Buccino (Antica Volcej). The Mayor Parisi expressed his gratitude for the award and his personal admiration for the activities of the Fondazione Mediterraneo, which he had demonstrated through his agreeing to the construction of the Totem for Peace in Buccino. |

EPIPHANY CONCERT - XVIIITH EDITION

On 4 January 2013, the XVIIIth Edition of the Epiphany Concert was held in Naples bringing the Christmas festivities to a close with the traditional message of peace and goodwill once again delivered and celebrated using music as an instrument for overcoming any barriers between race, culture and religion in the name of universal fraternity. The concert took place at the Teatro Mediterraneo in Naples and included a star-studded cast of international artists advocating the ideals of fraternity,. On that occasion, nominations for the 2013 Mediterranean Awards were announced and some awards were conferred upon the winners. |
